Developed by Brother Adam, who was in charge of beekeeping from 1919 at Buckfast Abbey in
Devon in the United Kingdom, the Buckfast bee is a hybrid honey bee. A cross of many
subspecies and strains selected for individual traits. Buckfast queens are very prolific in
the spring laying lots of eggs building up strong colonies for honey production in the
spring and summer. Lower tendency to swarm, Calm on the comb and very placid bees when
handled gently. They are the perfect bees for hobby and commercial beekeepers alike.
